Can my choir receive free scores even if we can’t perform the entire Sing Democracy 250 program?

Free scores of our 2 new works, “Redeem the Dream” and “US”, will only be provided to choirs who commit to performing those 2 pieces in their entirety, as well as “The Star-Spangled Banner and “Lift Ever Voice and Sing”.

Performance collaborations between 2 or more choirs who plan to learn different portions of the music, then perform the pieces together, can apply for free scores as a consortium.

If another choir in my area will be performing this program, can my choir still perform as well, and will we be eligible to receive free scores?

Absolutely! Our goal is to have as many choirs throughout America performing our full Sing Democracy 250 program in 2026.

As long as your choir meets our Eligibility Requirements, you may certainly apply for free scores.

What is the difficulty level of the music? Will my choir be able to perform it successfully?

Our composers are well-versed in choral repertoire, and have written these pieces for singers that are high-school-age or above.

Therefore, if you direct a youth choir with singers under age 14, this may not be a good program for your group. However, you may consider collaborating with an older choir, and including your singers on sections/songs that you find are accessible to them (e.g. a rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” or “The Star-Spangled Banner”).

Do I have to use the full chamber ensemble instrumentation, or will there be a version with a piano reduction?

There are 2 options available for instrumentation:

• Piano and Rhythm Section (piano, cello, bass, drum set)

• Chamber ensemble (c. 22 players)

When you fill out your application for free music scores, simply select which instrumentation option you prefer, and we will provide you with the appropriate scores.

Is there a way to preview the new scores before we commit to participating?

Yes! We have sample scores and recordings for both new compositions on our website (see Our Music pages).

We have also partnered with Kinnison Choral Co. to create Choral Rehearsal Track Packages of our 2 new compositions, “Redeem the Dream” and “US”, available to participating choirs!

These packages are available to all members of participating choirs (including collaborations) for only $34.95.
